Scott Kleeb knows first-hand the important role our military men and women play in keeping this country safe and strong. Scott is committed to ensuring not only that our military has the funding it needs to remain the greatest armed forces in the world, but that our brave men and women in uniform - and their families - are treated with the respect they have earned.
In order to meet the challenges of the 21st century, Scott Kleeb believes we must have a strong, well-trained, and well-financed professional military. Specifically, Scott will work to:
Ensure that soldiers and Marines receive necessary training before deployment and are adequately rested between tours.
Provide better pay and benefits for enlisted men and women and their families. With these incentives, we should recruit an additional 65,000 soldiers and 27,000 Marines.
Provide new, cutting-edge, and proven-effective equipment, armor, training, and skill development like language training.
Support Defense Department initiatives to research, develop, and test new weapons systems and equipment.
Increase Special Ops forces. A modern American military must include a larger number of Special Operations Forces, which are critical for countering terrorism and insurgent forces.
Nebraska has a unique strategic location in the country and plays a significant role in our domestic security and offensive capability. Scott Kleeb firmly supports strengthening the state’s National Guard and maintaining its Air Force base.
Protecting Nebraska’s military presence. Offutt Air Force Base is home to the 55th Bomb Wing and is the headquarters of U.S. Strategic Command. Offutt is not only a crucial part of the military’s strategic defense and domestic preparedness, it is also a cornerstone of Nebraska’s economy. Scott Kleeb applauds Senator Ben Nelson’s efforts to secure critical funding to build a new headquarters at STRATCOM. Scott will be a strong advocate for Offutt, one of the most important military sites in the country.
Strengthening the National Guard. The National Guard is a critical piece of our defense system. Not only does the National Guard serve a unique and invaluable role here at home, these citizen-soldiers are also called on to assist in military operations around the world. Scott Kleeb will work to ensure:
