After the U.S. Senate voted down the Warner - Lieberman Climate Security Act, candidate Scott Kleeb said the following:
“Today Washington politicians had an opportunity to change the status quo concerning energy policy. Their failure to do so is unacceptable. The Warner - Lieberman Climate Security Act, authored by a Republican and an Independent, then amended by a Democrat, would have transformed America’s energy policy by lessening our dependence on foreign oil, creating American jobs and moving toward energy independence. The cost of doing nothing is too high to allow the Washington establishment to continue to ignore this issue at the expense of Nebraskans and all Americans. I look forward to supporting common sense, bi-partisan legislation such as this to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and create jobs here in the U.S.”
