Johanns, Kleeb Debate in Scottsbluff

One of Democratic Senate candidate Scott Kleeb's sharpest attacks against GOP rival Mike Johanns last night dealt with health care coverage.

Kleeb accused Johanns of stating that most Nebraskans feel they have good health coverage.

Kleeb ridiculed that claim, saying about 200,000 Nebraskans lack health care coverage, and most who have it fear losing it.

Johanns fired back in the debate held in Scottsbluff.

The former Nebraska governor said Kleeb misrepresented one sentence in Johann's campaign material.

Johanns said he wasn't referring specifically to insurance, but health care in general.

The sentence says: "Nebraskans believe they have good health care."

Johanns resigned to take the Ag Secretary post in 2005 before resigning last year to run for the Senate seat held by Republican Chuck Hagel.

He suggested last night that Kleeb wasn't being upfront about his own position on health care.
